WHAT TO EXPECT

At the end of this eight-month course, students will have learned:

  • Front office administrative skills
  • Medical terminology, ethics and law
  • Word processing
  • Phlebotomy techniques
  • Injections
  • Universal precautions
  • Vital signs
  • Pharmacology
  • Urinalysis
  • Application of aseptic techniques and infection control
  • Electrocardiograph
  • Interviewing & recording of patient history
  • The use and care of diagnostic equipment

Once completed, students are eligible to become nationally certified Medical Assistants through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) in four areas. These certifications include:

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Certified Administrative Medical Assistant
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • Certified EKG Technician

EXTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Students spend ten weeks gaining real-world experience by applying their newly learned skills in local medical facilities.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates of this program can successfully step into roles as an Administrative Medical Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, or EKG Technician.
