Patient Care Technician Program (6 Months)

This program will prepare students for entry level positions as a patient care technician.  The program will provide instruction in phlebotomy Skills, EKG skills, nurse assistant skills, and patient care skills. Skills learned include vital signs, injections, personal care, basic rehab skills, and basic nursing skills.  Students completing the program will be eligible to receive the following certifications, certified phlebotomy tech, certified ekg tech, certified nurse assistant, certified patient care technician.

While in school, the PCT training program will teach you to perform an array of skills including:

Direct Patient Care
Vital Signs
Basic Laboratory Procedures (Phlebotomy, Capillary Sticks, Glucomeder Checks)
Specimen Collections
Performing EKG’s
Administering Injections
Dressing Removal and Application
Wound Care Procedures
Removal of Staples and Sutures
Use of Pulse Oximeter

  • Applicant Must Be 18 Years Or Older
  • Applicant Must Have High School Diploma or GED
  • Applicant Must Obtain A 70% Or Better On The Schools Entrance Exam
  • Student cannot be listed as unemployable on the employee misconduct registry and cannot have been convicted of a criminal offense as listed in the Texas Health and Safety Code 250.006
  • Certified Patient Care Technician
  • Certified Nurse Assistant
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician
  • Certified EKG technician
Upon completion of the program students may gain entry level employment in hospitals, clinics, medical labs nursing homes, home health agencies, surgical centers, rehab hospitals, rehab clinics and doctors offices.
