Nurse Aide | Home Health Aide (6 Weeks)

This program will prepare students for entry level positions as a nurse assistant.  The program will provide instruction in basic nursing skills, vital signs, personal care, and activities of daily living.  The program includes classroom, hands on lab experience and clinical rotations.  Students completing the program will be eligible to take the nurse assistant certification exam.

With this course nursing assistants will:

  • Be prepared with knowledge, skills and abilities to provide basic care to residents in long term care facilities
  • Support and promote residents rights
  • Provided safety measures in resident care
  • Demonstrate skills in observing and reporting
  • Practice infection control measures
  • Practice and be proficient in 22 state required skills such as:
    • Vital Signs
    • Bathing
    • Grooming
    • Feeding
    • Incontinent Care
    • etc.
  • Applicant Must Be 18 Years Or Older
  • Applicant Must Obtain A 70% Or Better On The Schools Entrance Exam
  • Student cannot be listed as unemployable on the employee misconduct registry and cannot have been convicted of a criminal offense as listed in the Texas Health and Safety Code 250.006
  • Certified Nurse Assistant
Upon completion of the program graduates can find employment in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, hospice, transitional care units.
