Phlebotomy Technician

Admissions Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak, read, & write in English
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have G.E.D. or high school diploma
  • Must pass an entrance exam administered by the school with a 70% or better

Course Length: 230 Clock hours

Full Time

Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.3:30- p.m.

Course Description:

 This program provides instruction for entry level employment as a phlebotomist.  The phlebotomy program includes instruction in principals and procedures for venipunctures, blood glucose monitoring, hematology, and collections of specimens.  Students will demonstrate care of lab equipment, infection control procedures, and identify common lab tests and values. Students will learn anatomy and physiology and describe the body’s basic systems and functions. The program includes classroom lecture, lab, competency demonstration and externship.  Graduates of this program may obtain employment in clinics, doctor’s offices, medical labs, and hospitals. Upon completion of the course students are eligible to become National Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (NCPT) through the National Center for Competency Testing.
